Replace just the air conditioner, the AC and the furnace together, or switch to a heat pump. Cold Cloud sizes each option room by room and gives you written options before you decide.
We explain the findings, agree on the scope with you, and keep you informed as the work moves forward.

Installation details
Old refrigerant is recovered into a cylinder under the federal EPA 608 rule.
Connections are brazed while purging with nitrogen, pressure-tested with nitrogen and evacuated to 500 microns before charging.
The refrigerant charge is weighed in to the manufacturer’s specification.
New air conditioners use R-32 or R-454B refrigerant. They need a matched indoor coil, and an existing furnace gets a safety kit with a leak sensor.
Startup includes temperature split, static pressure, amp draw, superheat and subcooling, and blower setup matched to your ducts.
Start with the space. Then design the system.
Uneven rooms and a system that never quite feels right deserve more than a new equipment label. We look at the home, its heating and cooling needs, and how air moves through it.
01 / Capture the geometry
A 3D scan helps document the room shapes and dimensions.
02 / Calculate the load
Manual J combines geometry with separately assessed insulation, windows and other inputs.
03 / Plan the airflow
Equipment selection, supply and return paths, duct sizes and room airflow work together.

La Cañada Flintridge homes are served by Southern California Edison and SoCalGas. Some SCE customers in designated communities may qualify for a heat pump rebate through SCE’s Home Performance Plus program, and qualifying Daikin systems may qualify for a Daikin instant rebate that we apply on your invoice. Eligibility is confirmed by each program. See which programs apply to your home.
Permits and rebates in La Cañada Flintridge
La Cañada Flintridge sits in the foothills, where many homes are large and multi-level, with long duct runs to the far rooms. That is why we size every installation room by room, often with more than one zone, and check the ducts before recommending equipment.
Permit and HERS verification
Replacing a central air conditioner in La Cañada Flintridge needs a mechanical permit from the city. We pull the permit and attend the inspection. California also requires independent HERS verification of refrigerant charge, airflow and duct leakage when a central system is replaced. California Energy Commission
Rebates
If you switch to a heat pump, a home served by Southern California Edison may qualify for a rebate. Details are on our Rebates & financing page.
Financing
A heat pump project may qualify for GoGreen Home financing through USC Credit Union, including a 0% or 2% option for qualifying heat pump projects; the lender confirms eligibility. GoGreen Home loan · Checked on October 22, 2026.
What your home may need
These are the things we check at the assessment. Each one can change the scope and the price, and we tell you which apply before you decide.
Furnace or air handler. To replace only the AC, the indoor unit has to be sound and its blower has to move enough air for the new equipment. Age alone is a reason to check it, not to replace it. If it does not fit, we show you the AC and furnace option and the heat pump option side by side.
New coil and safety kit. New air conditioners run on R-32 or R-454B refrigerant. The outdoor unit needs a matched new coil, and an existing furnace gets a kit with a leak sensor that stops cooling and runs the blower if refrigerant is detected.
Refrigerant lines. Existing lines are flushed and pressure-tested. If they are not suitable, new lines are added.
Ducts. We measure static pressure, the resistance of your ductwork. If it is too high, the system will be noisy and deliver less air. A room that is always warmer or colder than the rest often points to an undersized duct to that room.
Electrical circuit. The breaker and wire are sized from the new unit’s nameplate. If the existing circuit does not meet it, a new circuit runs from the panel.
Outdoor unit location. The unit sits level, above grade, with the clearances the manufacturer requires. On a roof it goes on a stand, not on the roofing.
Sometimes the next step is a repair
A system that stops cooling does not always need to be replaced. The assessment is meant to find the right fix.
One failed part on an AC that otherwise runs well. A capacitor, a fan motor or a contactor is usually a repair, not a reason for a new system.
One room is too hot or too cold. The cause is often the ductwork to that room, and correcting it can solve the problem without new equipment.
Repeated breakdowns or an R-22 system. Repairs get harder to justify, and a replacement is usually the better use of money.
AC installation in La Cañada Flintridge: questions
How much does AC installation cost in La Cañada Flintridge?
The price depends on the option you choose (AC only, AC and furnace, or a heat pump), the equipment, and whether the ducts, refrigerant lines or electrical circuit need work. You get written options with scope and price after the in-home assessment.
Can I replace only the AC and keep my furnace?
Yes, if the furnace is sound and its blower can move enough air for the new equipment. The new outdoor unit comes with a matched coil, and the furnace gets a safety kit for the new refrigerant where it is required.
Can I keep my existing ducts?
Often, yes. We measure the static pressure of your ductwork. If it is too high, the ducts or the return need correcting so the new system is not noisy and delivers enough air.
How soon can you install?
Installation usually takes place 3–5 days after you sign.
Do you pull the permit?
Yes. We pull the mechanical permit with the city, attend the inspection and schedule the HERS verification.
